HOW OUR LAWN MAINTENANCE WORKS
Lawn maintenance typically kicks off in mid-April and lasts until just after October. Our lawn maintenance is serviced by 28-32 weekly visits. For the most part, every lawn maintenance visit includes mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing. However, every now and then we need to alter the visit plan. Sometimes the lawn is too wet to mow. This normally happens in April or early May. Other times the grass has not grown enough to be mowed. This can happen during summer dormancy. If we have low rain and high heat, sometimes the grass just doesn’t grow enough in a week. When these instances occur, we normally walk around and trim areas that need it and blow everything to make sure hardscapes are debris-free and look for other things we can do.
Our crews typically work from 8 am until 5 or 6 pm. We tend to do residential maintenance on Thursdays and Fridays. Sometimes it seems like Chicago weather messes up our schedule once a week. If your regular lawn mowing day is rained or snowed out, we normally just move it a day back for that week.
Payment is charged to the credit card we have on file for you after service and a receipt is emailed to you.
WHY HIRING A LAWN MOWING SERVICE IS IMPORTANT
Lawns thrive under consistent care. A well-cared-for lawn is lush, deep green, and weed-free. Regular mowings and trimming help to keep your lawn at an optimal length. Edging prevents grass from encroaching on flower beds, mulch beds, and hardscapes.
We recommend pairing our lawn maintenance with one of our lawn treatment plans to ensure a great looking and weed-free lawn that you never have to think about.
IS IT COST EFFECTIVE TO HIRE A GRASS CUTTING COMPANY?
When it comes to determining if it is worth hiring a lawn maintenance company, it generally breaks down into two cost categories vs the price your lawn maintenance charges. 1) The actual cost of buying and maintaining your own lawn maintenance equipment and 2) the amount you value your free time on the weekends.
The cost of buying lawn maintenance equipment can be considerable. Weighing the cost of buying a ride-on mower, a push mower, a string trimmer, and a backpack blower versus hiring a lawn maintenance company is a tricky calculation.
Since most lawn equipment has a life expectancy of about 7 years, let’s examine the cost involved with both over a 7 year period. For our example, we will use a typical 1/4 acre lot that would cost about $40 for a lawn maintenance company to service.
Costs of Mowing Your Own Lawn:
Upfront Costs
Ride-On Mower (midrange): $2200
Push Mower (midrange): $350
String Trimmer: $200
Backpack Blower: $350

Recurring Costs (per year)

TOTAL COST PER YEAR TO MOW YOUR OWN LAWN: $995

Given that you will typically spend about 60 hours per year working on your lawn, the question is do you value your free-time at more than $5 per hour? If you do, give us a call, so you can go watch your kids’ little league game.
